Simon Walsh, Telefónica UK

Simon is the Fraud Operations Manager at Telefónica UK, which trades commercially in the UK using the O2 brand. Simon has over 15 years of experience working in a variety of fraud and security roles in the telecommunications sector. At Telefónica, his teams work to protect the business from existing and emerging fraud risks and provide a first class service to support the victims of criminality. Simon joined the RAG Steering Committee in September 2016, increasing the depth of fraud expertise and helping us to deliver an agenda which stays up to date with developments in fraud.

This March, Simon will be one of the panellists at RAG London. He will join other fraud experts debating the potential and impact for new technology to change the way fraud managers work.

Based in Leeds, Simon leads a UK team tasked with mitigating risks associated with external fraud, internal fraud in customer service, and malicious calls. Simon’s team ensure service levels and quality standards are delivered for victims of fraud and nuisance calls, and they own the company’s fraud prevention policies and are responsible for verifying the identity of new customers. Simon also works to ensure fraud prevention is built into new propositions, and provides intelligence and analytical support for criminal investigations.
