“Social Media for Practitioners of Risk and Assurance” by Eric Priezkalns

Eric Priezkalns, the original RA blogger, was invited to the November 2012 RAG meeting to share what he had learned from years of using the web to distribute information and make connections between geographically distributed professionals. He spoke about the inspirations for his talkRA website, which was known as much for its stinging criticism of unethical behaviour as for the reliability of its weekly output. Eric ventured several theories for why talkRA had succeeded in building a worldwide audience when copycats and other social media experiments had failed.

The audience feedback to the presentation greatly influenced the subsequent development of talkRA, prompting its rebranding and relaunch as Commsrisk.
